Titling Classes Available Through CDSP Video

Starter Novice

Eligibility: Teams are not eligible for Starter Novice if the dog has one qualifying score in a Novice class in any venue. Rally titles do not count. Full information for A/B/C class eligibility is in the rules, Chapter 3: Starter Novice Class.

Novice

Eligibility: A Starter Novice title is not required to enter Novice.

  • The Novice A class shall be for dogs who have not earned any other obedience title in any registry.
  • The Novice B class shall be for dogs who have earned an obedience title in any registry.
  • The Novice C class shall be for dogs who have earned a CDSP Novice title (CD-C, CD-H, CD-Cv) in either the A or B class.

Rally titles do not count. Full information for A/B/C class eligibility is in the rules, Chapter 4: Novice Class.

Open

Eligibility: A Novice title is required to enter Open.

  • The Open A class shall be for dogs who have earned the CDSP Novice obedience title, either in a live trial or via video.
  • The Open B class shall be for dogs who have earned the CDSP Novice obedience title (CD-C, CD-H, or CD-Cv) and/or any other Open obedience titles in any registry.
  • The Open C class shall be for dogs who have earned a CDSP Open title (CDX-C, CDX-H, CDX-Cv) in either the A or B class. Refer to Open C Exercises [Rules, Chapter 5] for allowed orders of exercises.

Utility A & C

Eligibility: An Open title is required to enter Utility A.

  • The Utility A class shall be for dogs that have earned the CDSP Open obedience title (CDX-C, CDX-H, or CDX-Cv).
  • The Utility C class shall be for dogs that have earned a CDSP Utility title (UD-C, UD-H, or UD-Cv) in the A class. Refer to Utility C Exercises [Rules, Chapter 6] for allowed orders of exercises. Ten (10) qualifying scores of 185 in the C class earn the dog a championship: UD-CCHv. This may be repeated: UD-CCHv2.

In live events, exhibitors may not enter both Utility B and Utility C in the same trial.

Utility B

Eligibility: A Utility title is required to enter Utility B.

  • The Utility B class shall only be for dogs that have earned the CDSP Utility obedience title in the A class. The B class is where UDX-Cv Qs and OTCH-Cv points are earned. The exercises are drawn from Novice, Open, and Utility, plus a seek-back exercise in order 3. This class also offers a bonus exercise that can add as much as 20 points to a qualifying score. In live events, exhibitors may not enter both Utility B and Utility C in the same trial.

Versatility

Eligibility: A Novice title is required to enter Versatility.

  • The Versatility A class shall only be for dogs that have earned the CDSP Novice obedience title in the A or B class but have not yet earned an Open title.
  • The Versatility B class is for dogs that have earned any Open or Utility qualifying legs or titles. Open title.
  • The Versatility C class is for dogs who have earned a CDSP Versatility title in either the A or B class.

The exercises are drawn from Novice, Open, and Utility, but there are no retrieves. [Chapter 7: Versatility Class]
